My name is Craig. I am British, but spent most of my life abroad; traveling and living. I have always been passionate about visual media and storytelling. From learning darkroom processes at an early age, to my father giving me his prized Canon A1 – its always been in my life. My role into photography started with a love of film, and I always sought to use both. I completed by BA (Hons) Photography in Portsmouth in 2006.
Since then, I have tried my eye at almost every kind of photography avaliable; commercial and creative. This goes from landscapes to portraits, documentary to real estate. The one area that always stuck with me was street and documentary photography. Now, I approach all photography situations from a stance of an observer, capturing real scenes, in natural light, with a light edit (if at all).

My photographic journeys have taken me to capture fair trade coffee farmers in the Andes, impartially document West Bank Palestinians, capture Roma Gypsies throughout the Balkans & document the Karen Hill Tribe in Northern Thailand. I continue to read, study, research, and write while looking for new projects to cover and help where needed.
For the past six years, I have written about photography, and researched all aspects, including its history, influences, experimentations and advancements. From filming live music and events, to reading a lot about sociology and psychology, et al, I have been growing my skills and passions slowly but surely.

In 2023, the idea to create Come to Light came about from seeing a huge discrepancy between photojournalists’ wellbeing and their experienced trauma, which was not being discussed. Not enough was being done. This platform is intended to be a community of visual journalists helping each other and those that wan’t to carve their own role in the field – basically helping those who help those who need it.

Currently, it serves as an educational platform, but with time and attention, it will grow so much more.
